As Resident Services Director at Pinnacle Groves Senior Living, I’ve seen how a strong sense of community transforms senior living. It turns a place to stay into a place to truly thrive. Building connections among residents, team members, and the surrounding neighborhood isn’t optional — it is essential for well-being, joy, and purpose.
Creating community begins with understanding what makes each resident feel valued and included. It also means designing experiences that spark conversation, laughter, and shared memories. Whether it’s a small gathering, a holiday celebration, an Act of Service, or a themed activity, each moment strengthens relationships and helps residents feel they belong.

From my perspective, every interaction becomes an opportunity to weave the fabric of community. When residents feel connected, they enjoy their days more fully. They also gain the emotional and social benefits that come from genuine human connection.
To me, community in senior living means more than sharing an address. It is a true sense of belonging, purpose, and connection — something that turns a residence into a home.
Building meaningful connections among residents is essential. These relationships support emotional, physical, and cognitive well-being. Connection turns neighbors into friends and transforms a building into a vibrant community. When residents feel connected, they feel grounded, supported, and at home.
I encourage engagement by creating opportunities that reduce social barriers. Informal events, relaxed gatherings, and personal introductions help new relationships form naturally and comfortably. Every small moment of connection matters.
Sometimes, helping residents feel connected to the broader community means bringing that community to them. Networking with local organizations opens the door to partnerships, creative programs, and meaningful engagement. Each collaboration introduces fresh energy and new experiences.
One of my favorite events is our Happy Hour. These gatherings are filled with laughter and conversation. Residents come together to unwind, socialize, and strengthen friendships in a fun and familiar setting.
Welcoming new residents is also a priority. I introduce them to our welcome committee and make sure to stay personally connected as they settle in. I take time to sit with them, chat, and check in throughout their first thirty days. These conversations help me get to know them while ensuring they feel supported, included, and truly part of our community.

At the heart of Pinnacle Groves, connections are everything. Every shared laugh, meaningful interaction, and thoughtful conversation enriches daily life. As Resident Services Director, I’ve seen how intentional efforts to build these relationships transform our building into a true home and create moments residents and families will treasure.
By prioritizing relationships, engagement, and belonging, we do more than plan events — we build a vibrant, supportive community where everyone can thrive. Ultimately, the connections we nurture make all the difference.
